Interview – Journey of A Yoga Entrepreneur

Entrepreneur, Wellness Expert & People Empowerment Enthusiast as I can today call myself, my journey started with a 17-year-old experience in the Banking and Financial Services Industry and a Master in Management Science certification.

Having worked for reputed Indian and multinational organizations at senior levels, I’ve had the opportunity to be nominated for training and projects and now hold Six Sigma Black Belt with the highest ratings and scores in the country. The Six Sigma Black Belt and other professional trainings shaped me with soft skills, communication, body language skills, leadership, public speaking skills and a lot more. I consequently, also undertake assignments at various institutes for Soft Skills, Risk Management, Entrepreneurship Development and Practical Finance.

My expertise includes having knowledge of even the smallest business related topics and details. I am now also into Business Leadership Training for budding entrepreneurs and start-ups. I am also the entrepreneurship mentor for the Times Of India Entrepreneurship Initiative.

Apart from this professional work experience, I have had the privilege to take some time out since my teen years, to practice yoga and train for the same. Since the age of 13 I have been practicing Yoga and at the age of 16, I also started weight training. Over the years, I have done strength training, cardio programs, spinning and much more.
Yoga has always been my forte especially during times when I was fighting clinical depression, drug addiction and chronic health issues. All this has been parallel with my professional career.
Finally, I decided to convert my passion into my profession which led me to now being a Certified Yoga and Nutrition Specialist.
In the year 2014 I was identified as a National Yoga Expert and was interviewed by the All India Radio on the first International Yoga Day on 21st June, 2014. Since then I have been part of the National Yoga Committee too.

I have founded 3 yoga based businesses recently:
• Wellzee – this is the world’s first holistic health portal based on Yoga with around 10,000 sign-ups already!

• Abhisti – which is now licensed globally to accredit yoga professionals on behalf of the Govt. of India. and starting operations, soon.

• YogTree – Which will be starting a Yoga Franchising Chain

I have also been a visiting faculty at S.P. Jain and Symbiosis for Entrepreneurship, Soft Skills & Related Subjects. I am also the Director International for The Rotary Club of Chandivali and Vice President and President Elect for the forthcoming years, respectively. I have jointly undertaken CSR activities for jail inmates, amongst other CSR initiatives like training school teachers in Tribal areas and Ayurveda Doctors.
Apart from the regular work I also enjoy spending time with my parents who are the reason for my comeback and success. Apart from the regular work, I also enjoy writing and have authored two e-books which are freely available on my website, gaurangchandarana.com.

I am also in the process of launching the first of its kind in the world, practical and applied Yoga courses in April, this year. Having mapped 7 large verticals in the Yoga space for the first time, I will be starting them, one at a time, spanning over the next 3 to 5 years. I aspire to organise and structure this space into an ‘Industry’ in the near future.
I am now totally dedicated to Yoga and Developing Young Entrepreneurs and would love to connect with like – minded people and Organizations.
