India’s top business school NITIE Mumbai is currently hosting its annual Sports Cultural Business Festival – Avartan 2018 from 20th – 26th October. Avartan – “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”. The prime objective of the event is to provide the much-needed industry exposure to the students. The umbrella event is an amalgamation of Prerana, Lakshya, Empresario, the cultural festival — Aarohan and the sports meet —Josh. Avartan refers to a rhythmic cycle of Indian music, it Captures the essence of various events coming together in harmony to create a symphony that befits NITIE.
Lakshyas, a four-day corporate constellation is a unique endeavour of the students of NITIE to unify Industry and Institute to promote Business Excellence. Lakshya is a pioneer in the field of demonstrating the extravagant Industry Practices, Enlightening Speeches, Eye-opening Success Stories, Real Time Projects, Well-defined case studies and most importantly felicitating Erudite Business Visionaries and Sublime Managers visiting the campus.
Prerana, the four-day management conclave at NITIE brings together the brightest management minds of the country, dignitaries from the top echelons of the corporate world, and trailblazers from the world of performing art & cinema.
E Cell Empresario is an endeavour by NITIE students to spread the wave — “Entrepreneurship Everywhere.” Empresario has grown manifolds with the events comprising of Story Sessions, Live Start-Ups, Entrepreneurial Workshops and mushroomed participation in them from students as well as corporate.
AROHAN, the annual cultural fest held under the umbrella of AVARTAN organized at NITIE is the most awaited cultural event among the B- School fraternity. Events such as Live band performance, Fashion show among others enkindles the atmosphere and exhilarates participants from top B Schools. Arohan, which means to rise, has been our ideology and we continuously thrive to scale new heights and raise our standards.
JOSH — a three-day sports festival, is the biggest B-school sporting extravaganza in the country. It provides the ultimate test of skill, speed, strategy, and synergy presenting opportunities for students to showcase their sporting interest and channelize their energy in the field of play. JOSH is a grand celebration of sportsmanship.
Avartan kicked off with a talk by Mr. Ridham Desai, Managing Director, Morgan Stanley. He had an interactive session with students and delivered insights on Indian Economy.
JOSH, the sports event was inaugurated by Mr. Sardara Singh, former Indian hockey Captain. The Sports event saw participation from top B schools of the nation such as SPJIMR, NMIMS, SJMSOM, JBIMS, etc. The colleges contested in various sporting events such as Cricket, Basket Ball, Lawn Tennis, Chess, Table Tennis, etc. The green fields of NITIE were flooded with immense enthusiasm from all the participants. At the end of the 3rd Day, awards were distributed from none other than Major (Dr.) Pradeep Shoury Arya, I.R.S, Shaurya Chakra Winner. NITIE Mumbai was honored to host the whole event.
Arohan, the cultural fest of NITIE started with Roobaroo – A talk show by Manoj Phawa Ji – Bhatia Ji from Office Office. In the 3-day cultural event, NITIE hosted a cluster of events such as Headbangers – The Ultimate Band Battle, Rendezvous – The Fashion Show, Nrtiyotsava – Dance Competition, Nukkad Natak, Surukshetra – The Singing Competition and many more. These events were graced by eminent personalities like Prajakta Shukre, Kunal Bojewar, Jasmeet (Jizzy) Singh Bhatia, Alchemy – The Band, Richa Meena, Namya Saxena, Shaurya Khare, Reuben Kaduskar, Manan Bhardwaj, Astha Arora, Neeraj Yadav, Vachaspati Mishra, and Raghav Subbu. The Participation not only came from India’s top B schools but also from Indias top Engineering and Commerce colleges like RGIT, Pillai College of Arts, Commerce, and Science. True to its theme, ‘Sans Souci’ (When we shall be there, we shall be without care), Arohan’18 had such great performances which got everyone enchanted and mesmerized.
On 4th Day Lakshya Kicked off by presenting Lakshya Business Visionary Award to honor Mr. Pawan Munjal Sir (Chairman, Managing Director, and CEO of Hero Motocorp). The Awardee Ceremony presented Lakshya Distinguished Leader Awards to Prof. Jyeshtharaj Joshi ( DAE Homi Bhabha Chair Professor nuclear scientists, Padma Bhushan awardee 2014) and Lakshya Empressario Entrepreneurship Award to Mr. Nand kishore Chaudhary (Founder and CMD, Jaipur Rugs). Mr. Pawan Munjal sparked the Business acumen in the budding managers of Tomorrow. On the 4th Day, the other events that NITIE embraced were IE Conclave which witnessed eminent speakers from the industry such as Mr. Kaustubh Gokhale, VP – Capgemini, Dr. V Kovaichelvan, Director IQL, TVS Motors, Mr. Atul Jaggi, COO, Gabriel India LTD, R Chandra- CIO/CDO Cybertek. The Theme of the Conclave was “Changing role of Industrial Engineering in the emerging world of Industry 4.0”. The 4th Day concluded with a Power talk session by none other than Mr. Ajai Chowdhry, founder HCL, Padma Bhushan Awardee 2011. Sir talked about his journey as an Entrepreneur. Students were enthralled by his presence.
On the 5th day, Prerana Business Meet started in the presence of eminent personalities such as Mr. Arun Thukral, MD- Axis Securities, Mr. Sandeep Chaudhary, CEO – AON Hewitt and Mr. Subrata Bagchi, President TCG Digital. The Dignitaries gave a talk on topic – “Is India riding on a wave of Innovation in Business and Technology.” The day saw an SCM Conclave which was based on the theme “Next Generation Global Supply Chain Orchestration” in the presence of Mr. Prasad Shidhaye, Director – J&J Medical, Mr Radhamanalan P, Head of Jewellery Division, Titan Industries, Mr Swaminathan R, COO planning and sourcing ABFRL, Ankur Bhagat- Associate director- P&G. Various Business Competitions were held which saw participation from Top B schools of the country. We closed off the event with Cita De la – Celebrity talk show by a talk from Suresh Menon – Actor and Comedian, Atul Srivastava – Actor and The Famous Bunty from Sacred Games – Jatin Sarna.
The Event is still in progress with two exciting days lined up with events such as Finance Conclave, Entrepreneurship conclave, Manufacturing Conclave, Various Case Study Competitions and the Journey of Avartan will end on a high Musical note – Decibelz which will witness the performance from one and only Mr. Arjun Kanungo.
