Mumbai takes the maximum awards at the sixth edition of India Film Project

 October 1st saw over 3500 attendees engrossed at the sixth edition of India Film Project. Asia’s largest filmmaking challenge that requires participating teams to make a film within 50 hours based on the theme “Top of the World” saw over 23,600 filmmakers making 1200+ films in 50 hours.

 

Applicants from more than 20 countries namely USA, UK, Australia, China, Dubai, Pakistan, Bangladesh, etc. and from 262 cities in India including metros like Mumbai, Chennai, Pune, Kolkata, Delhi to smaller towns like Bilaspur, Dibrugarh, Jabalpur, Kolhapur and Sagar took the challenge of making films in a limited duration.

 

Out of the twelve awarding films in the professional, amateur and mobile category, Mumbai took away three awards followed by Nagpur that took away two awards followed by Thirumullavaram, Rajkot, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Vellore and Chennai that took away one award each.

In the professional category, Troll Life ranked first from Thirumullavaram, Gone with the Wind ranked second from Rajkot, Binoculars ranked third from Kolkata, Jamoon ranked fourth from Bengaluru and Vertigo ranked fifth from Hyderabad. In the amateur category, Nagraj in Mumbai ranked first from Mumbai, Acme ranked second from Nagpur, Kshudha ranked third from Nagpur and The Bridge ranked fourth from Mumbai. In the mobile category, Fibonacci ranked first from Mumbai, Black and White ranked second from Vellore and Nithirai ranked third from Chennai.india-film-project-7

Present at the award ceremony was the eminent jury for IFP 2016 comprised of all National Award Winners Madhur Bhandarkar, Nagesh Kukunoor, Sriram Raghavan who handpicked and awarded the best films from the lot.

 

The event saw workshop by Culture Machine, Comedy Factory, Screenpatti on ‘How to go Viral’; Kanan Gill on ‘Pretentious Short Film Reviews’; The Viral Fever, Y-Films and The Film Companion on ‘Anatomy of a Web-Series’; East India Comedy in conversation with Raja Sen on ‘Importance of giving Offence’, All India Bakchod team in conversation with Vasan Bala on ‘AIB vs the movies’, Workshop by Terribly Tiny Tales and Adhiraj Bose on ‘Telling a Short Story’; workshop from The Logical Indian team with Omung Kumar, Ananth Mahadevan and Anand Pandit on ‘How to make a sincere statement in a world of cynicism and sarcasm’ and Bollywood Gandu and Anisha Rickshawali in conversation with Raja Sen on ‘Split Personality’.

 

The best deserving IFP 2016 Film Making teams will be given an honor to create an ad film for the renowned brand of Coca-Cola and Maggi and a platform to showcase their films at international film festivals. IFP will fund each team, ensure quality equipment’s and make the winners work closely with the brands. The finest works will then be showcased across its various channels including TV, Digital assets, theatres and many more platforms.
